Our Doctors

Rodolfo Zamora

MEDICAL DIRECTOR

Dr. Zamora is originally from Maryland right outside of Washington, DC. Growing up there were always animals in his life, including a Bull Mastiff mix named Buster, and cats Rita, Newton and Sammy. He graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a BS in Molecular Biology and Philosophy. After his undergraduate studies, Dr. Zamora worked at the National Institutes of Health studying malaria. Following his research experience, Dr. Zamora transitioned to a career in animal care by working at an animal shelter in Virginia and a local veterinary clinic in Maryland, which inspired his application to veterinary school. He completed his studies in Veterinary Medicine at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia.

Dr. Zamora previously worked at our other clinic, Bensonhurst Veterinary Care, from 2015-2018, and came back to work at Greenwood Veterinary Care in 2020. His professional interests include geriatric/palliative care, cardiology, and dentistry.

Abby Tu

Dr. Tu is originally from Taiwan but grew up in Ontario, Canada. She grew up surrounded by animals in her father’s veterinary clinic in Taiwan which started her path towards veterinary medicine. After completion of her bachelor’s degree at the University of Guelph, she moved to Australia in 2015 to pursue a veterinary degree (and for some adventure!). After completion of her studies, she worked in general practice as a small animal veterinarian in Melbourne for a couple of years, then traveled around Australia for the next 3 years providing veterinary relief work around the country, working in all types of environments ranging from general practice to emergency roles and treating all types of small animals including the occasional koala and kangaroo!

In 2023, Dr. Tu and her husband decided to move to Brooklyn for their next adventure and to be closer to her family in Canada. Dr. Tu has specialist interests in emergency medicine, surgery, and animal nutrition.

Outside of being a veterinarian, Dr. Tu enjoys traveling, crafts, cooking, and acquiring way too many house plants.

Tobias Homolka

DVM

Dr. Tobias Homolka grew up on a farm on the outskirts of Melbourne, Australia. He has always been surrounded by all types of small and large animals that he helped care for, sparking a passion for animal health and veterinary medicine. Dr. Homolka moved to the city to complete both his Bachelor of Science and veterinary degree at the University of Melbourne. After graduating, he worked in a busy small animal practice until the covid-19 outbreak.

Dr. Homolka then set out to follow the entire Australian coastline and work as a relief veterinarian in rural and suburban clinics struggling to service their communities during the pandemic. He completed his Australia-wide trip after 2 years providing veterinary care in almost every state during this time!

In 2023, Dr. Homolka decided to stop his relief work and pursue another adventure in America. Along with his wife, they have set up a life in Brooklyn, now working full time at Greenwood Veterinary Care.

His special interests include dentistry, dermatology, and surgery.

Outside of work, Dr. Homolka enjoys traveling America, hiking, skiing and tending to his aquariums.

Our Staff

Carmen and Jesse

Office Managers

Carmen and Jesse have developed their passion for animals at a young age so it was destined that they would find themselves a career in the animal medical field.

Carmen started working in the veterinary field in 1997 when she decided to get an after school job at an animal hospital in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. She quickly found herself as head technician of the clinic a few years later. Jesse began his career by working in an animal boarding facility. In 2009, while transitioning jobs to a new animal clinic, he joined a team, where he officially met Carmen.Carmen and Jesse became fast friends and it only took one year before these two fell in love.

In 2010, Dr Zawie took a position as an associate at the same clinic as Carmen and Jesse. A couple of years later in 2012, when Dr Zawie decided to open his first animal hospital in Bensonhurst, he offered both Carmen and Jesse a position. After several years of hard work Carmen and Jesse were promoted to managers of Bensonhurst Vet Care.

In 2017, Jesse and Carmen officially tied the knot! It has been an amazing journey for them both. When they are not at work they love spending all of their time with Jesse’s 10 year old son, Jacob. Carmen has enjoyed being a stepmom since Jacob was 2 years old. They love vacationing, and spending time with their family, friends and their 19 year old cat Henny.
